Hi Gladys -

I heard a very cool but strange bit of news this morning on the radio. The US military has developed a technology to be used in helmets with a language feature in it so that troops will be able to have immediate translations no matter what country or what language they hear. So they can understand their ally, enemy, or civilians without knowing the language.

Now wouldn't that be better served for use in the public sector? Maybe it would even help prevent misunderstandings that lead to things like aggression and war? You can't make this stuff up.

Best
Jim

Hi Gladys. I'm a 4th grade general ed teacher in Queens, NYC. I had the pleasure of visiting Buenos Aires this past summer and loved it.

I'd like to know more about your bilingual program. What age group do you teach? Is the school English/Spanish or are the students taught other languages as well. Do you use any web based programs to teach?

Hello Gladys, I teach technology to Special Education students in Brooklyn, NYC. Can you tell about your language learning tools? Especially if they are online or interactive? We only have English as a Second Language (ESL) at my school and apparently it is very difficult to find teachers who have experience in it.

Hi Gladys, Nice to have you join our group. We are currently in the introductions phase but hope to have more types of interactions over the next few weeks. Several members are interested in language learning on the internet. With the video, photos, and music features we may be able to be creative in new ways. We welcome you to the group and your ideas.
