I have been kept very busy, and there are still so many things I am unsure of. I know I will be in the same school next year but I am not sure exactly what I will be doing.
Sorry Nozomi, I have not been checking this page too much of late. I should really keep it up. Hope evrything is OK with you and you are still hanging in there with the teaching. Every year seems to present a new challenge.

Sorry I have been such a cad and not replied for ages. I have been caught up in my first proper teaching job and last practice. Wow, so much has happened.
I work with special needs children now, it is very challenging.
I love your clothes! What is Japan like? I would love to travel to your country. What is your teaching like there? I am from Queens, New York in the US.
Nozomi,
Your profile picture caught my eye on the members page of this network ... your clothing is beautiful! On what occasions do you wear this outfit? Also as I was glancing through your photos on the slideshow, in the end you are wearing a Korean Hanbok ... have you visited Korea? I am a teacher in New York, but I have a lot of famliy in Korea! It is nice to meet you online, and I wish you the best of luck with your teaching!
-Angela :)
You have some wonderful pictures yourself!!!
I recognize some of them as Japan, but where were the other pictures taken??
I saw a bunch of pictures of your friends. Were you a student in USA?? There is a lot of diversity on the campus...
Also, your kimono pictures were lovely. Was that you at the end wearing the Korean gown?? It looks very pretty!! :)
Cool!
When did you graduate??
My picture is actually from my college times also. This is one of the senior portraits that I took.
I have actually seen a lot of pretty pictures from Japan. I'll try to upload some pics of my college, because my campus was very pretty.
Hi Nozomi,
I really like your name... I know that it means "wish". :) I studied Japanese briefly in College and loved it. I love languages in general...
Your picture here looks really nice. I have never worn a Japanese kimono... Is this picture from a festival??
Maybe one day I can visit Japan, and meet up with you. :)

PS: I love Japanese culture, and it may not come as a surprise to you, but anime is one of my favorite things about Japan.
Skype is a really good idea. Maybe we could think about providing some kind of taster thing where people can get an idea about a language and then make contact with somebody who is prepared to help them learn it.
Sorry for taking a while to reply Nozomi, I have been doing some work experience in a zoo, and it has kept me quite busy.
I will have a look at the forum and see what can be done. Jiro has a point about sound files and full on podcasting though it maybe possible to construct a simple page with reduced rate wave samples. Because the voice only uses a narrow band of frequencies you can reduce the quality (and therefore the file size) quite a lot and still have it as understandable. Not sure how this could be applied and used but it would certainly help reduce the burden on the infrastructure of countries without broadband everywhere.

I think it is a nice idea and I came up with one perspective of it. Learning through the NET is usuful but it requires the infrastructure of the network. Especially, in language learning, broadband network is more convenient since a considerable amount of data, which includes sound and movie files , are needed to be exchanged immediately. Unfortunately, there are many nations and regions where the infrastructure has not been fully completed. This may be related to the power supply problem in South Africa.
The BBC website idea is really good for honing english skills, and I think you are right about the language learning on the internet.
Perhaps we could think about doing something about language learning for a global connections project? Not sure how it would work, but certainly worth a thought.

My sister has a house in St Ives which is on the opposite coast from Penzance, still not far though. Gower is very nice, I really like it there.
I have thought about Canada or maybe New Zealand as a place to live and work, mainly because I am a typical English fool and only able to speak one language. Something I wish I had the time, and intelligence to sort out.

Nozomi, The photos are very interesting and beautiful. Who are the people? Can you tell us a bit about the dresses and occasions they are worn?
I have been finishing essays, taking a driving exam, and am now packing frantically as I am moving in just over a week.
I maybe a bit quiet for a while until the move is out of the way.
Hope you are OK

I think if you are to learn another language one of the best ways is to live in a place where you have to speak it. What do you think?
