Hello,
My name is Ximena Rayo. I am originally from Chile but I have been in Minnesota for the last 16 years. I am the Global Studies coordinator at Park Center Senior High in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. We are located in a northern suburb of Minneapolis but we have a very urban/diverse school. The school became a Global Studies Magnet school about a year a go. We are in the implementation phase. We are by no means experts but we are looking at a couple of things that will help give our curriculum a more global perspective. We are very interested in establishing long term partnerships with schools around the world. If you have a project in your school and want to do some collaboration feel free to contact me.
Our teachers are starting to address the four regions of the world through out their curriculum. We are asking teachers to take a look at what they teach and seek to get different perspectives. One of the ways we hope to address the regions of the world is through partnerships with schools and organizations world wide.
We look forward to working with many teachers through this site and others.

This is terrific that your school is using the web 2.0 tools to collaborate with partners around the world and to teach global studies. There are a members of this ning who are educators representing a number of countries who may want to work with you. My graduate students are in the NYC area, although from various backgrounds as are you. I don't think we have the 4 corners of the world covered here but that a lofty goal for us. We have Mexico an Argentina, Asia ( east and west), and a few from the UK but, of course we are missing huge parts of the world. Hopefully this ning will help you connect and establish the collaboration you need for the global studies to be real and exciting.
