Global Connections in Education 2008

Hello all, I am Zebo Murodova from Tajikistan. It is Central Asia. I would like to share with you about my country.
Tajikistan is a country of ancient culture and traditions. The role of culture in the achievement of peace and social reconciliation in Tajikistan has been great. National traditions have brought people together and formed the basis for a lasting peace. Tajik culture is unique in its own way; it requires development and preservation of national values.
The Tajik nation sharing the common language, territory and culture was formed at the times of the Samanid rule (874-1005). This first state gave birth to civilization and governance of the following generations of Tajiks; and now, at the beginning of the third millennium, Tajikistan is known in the world as an independent country.
Dushanbe in many respects is the cultural capital of the republic.

Music and dance play a significant role in Tajik culture. The issues of professional musical education and musical heritage of the Tajik people were discussed by Tajik, Russian, and French scholars during the festival "Tajik Musical Culture at the beginning of the XXI century: Priorities for Development". The VI Youth Festival of Books and Music took place in Dushanbe in the framework of the "Peace Foundation to Children" Program aimed at the development of human values. Children's dancing group "Djahonaro" got the first prize (among 36 countries-participants) at the international festival "Children of the World and Art" that took place in Turkey.

Here below there is alink where you can hear Tajik music

Hello Zebo,

It was very interesting to read about Tajikistan. I am from Brooklyn, New York, but now live in Queens, New York. New York City has 5 boroughs - Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, the Bronx, and Manhattan. I teach teachers how to use technology in the classroom with their students.
If you would like to see the blog that I use with my teachers it can be found at:

This is a picture of me with my son (he's 15 years old). I also have a 12-year old and an 18-year old as well!
