What are people's experience with virtual classrooms ? WiZiQ offers a virtual Classroom that doesn't cost $100,000 for a site license. That's what attracted me to the WiZiQ VC platform.

To be honest, I am speechless with this invention and keep thinking how many things we can do with Inspiration family!
Inspiration and Kidspirations are an amazing group of invention from Inspiration Softwares and are excellent builders of critical thinking, organizers of thoughts and feelings, platforms for videos and html texts, and guards of ideas and images. All of them can create a story in the minds of deaf children and the educators can learn a lot from the impact of Inspiration and Kids…

Intellitools and Kurzweill 3000 are good for the deaf children with multiple disabilities and who need to access the curriculum within multiple representations and engagement means. I am thinking of how Kurzweill can be a good example for a deaf college student with ADHD; if he is so hyper, he can sit and watch the text being highlighted one by one and he can select whatever the colors captivate him and set it as the text background.
Intellitools are good for those deaf children with deficienci…

Background Information:
As an educator and advocate for children and youth who are deaf, I have always wondered about different softwares on the market out there, and which software would be most successful with its integration into the classroom learning and teaching for both groups of kids and youth. As I do not have a teaching job and do not possess the funding to be able to access most softwares, I am fortunate enough to access some of the softwares available by computers in the Tech…

I reviewed the accessibility designs of each software application with the accessibility checklist as mentioned in the first blog.
I have to check which rating would be applied to each technical standard labled A to H for all individual softwares. The rating as per JHU's accessibility checklist are: Meets Criteria, Does Not Meet Criteria, Requires Instructional Alternative and Not Applicable.…

With both a deaf and educator perspective, I post my personal opinions on the rest of softwares to be used in Deaf education as listed below:
ICommunicator:
ICommunicator is good for educating the deaf children who come from South America, Cuba, China, and the developing countries to learn American Sign Language, and to develop strengths in reading English sentence and picking words to form a sentence, but not many deaf children who are already born in the USA and exposed to ASL on natu…

Assistive Technology allows persons with disabilities to accomplish tasks that they may not have been able to. It also builds the feeling of independence in activities that may have required assistance otherwise. Some adaptations that we see everyday that have changed the live of those living with disabilities are sidewalk handicapped ramps for those in wheelchairs. Implementations such as this make living and life more comfortable for people who may have a disadvantage in certain areas.

Web 2.0 tools offer opportunities for authentic dialogue exchange that by any other way may not have been possible. People are not only connecting with those in there own circle but there world is open to the differences and similarities of the world around them. It is important to promote best practices of any tools as well as ensure the safety of our students. We must always model, demonstrate and educate on best practices in order to set examples of the way we interact with the WWW.

We all know that Web 2.0 is possibly the best thing since sliced bread, with all of the possibilities to gather and transfer information. It has definitely brought the world closer together. It takes virtually no time to communicate with someone from anywhere in the world. It has afforded us a great deal of power when it comes to how we use this information. However, to borrow a line from Stan Lee, "with great power comes great responsibility".
There are too many people in the world who feel th…

I believe that Technology in the classroom is a wonderful thing. I only wish that teachers ae given proper training, so it will eliminate the fear that some old time teacher may have about new technology. Also proper traing will allow teachers to pass it onto the student properly. This way student will be train to use the internet as a helpful tool. Today you see student using the internet to get back at other student, either by spreading bad e-mails or using tools like "YouTube" to bully others…

"Assistive technology is technology used by individuals with disabilities in order to perform functions that might otherwise be difficult or impossible. Assistive technology can include mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs, as well as hardware, software, and peripherals that assist people with disabilities in accessing computers or other information technologies. For example, people with limited hand function may use a keyboard with large keys or a special mouse to operate a computer…

All the teaching and learning aides online have greatly changed pedagogical approaches in the 21st century. The millenials of this era are the tech babies who had begun reading and writing using these web 2.0 tools. They are learning quickly how to create, share, and collaborate on content in the space of a second from one end of the world to the next.
I think the new technology layer has added an extra mode of complexity for teachers, but then again, it also means extra work for the students.…

Web 2.0 tools can help students gain access to information, provide learning opportunities, and practice a variety of literacy skills that would otherwise be inaccessible to them through traditional means. The collaboration that comes with this type of communication allows student to become more accountable/responsible for their learning by becoming part of the learning process. It’s almost as if the students become a seamless part of the instructional tool itself. The students’ prior knowledge…

"When you engage students learning happens"
One of the challenges of teaching this generation of students is the competition with all the multimedia they are exposed to. They are well versed in video games, TV, iPods and computers. 21st Century educators must embrace technology to engage students so that learning will occur. Technologies can range from using word processing programs, to creating digital stories to using such social networks like ning.

The High/Scope early childhood education curriculum is an exemplary derivative of the theoretical school of Constructivism. As educators we are indebted to Monsieur Piaget for setting a most viable foundation of developmental stage theory, moreover, Vygotsky is another constructivist who has particular if not profound impact on my decades of pedagogy with exceptional children. Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Learning theory is a relevant philosophy that can be tapered to the scaffolding elements of…
