Mark Carls Adopting a School

Just curious, I heard about a teacher looking to have here students do a service project (they are in 2nd grade) to raise money to donate to an African school. I wasn't sure how to help her out. Her students are going to get sponsors for a writing project they are going to do and they would like to donate the money. Any ideas? Continue

Barbara King Cultural Appreciation from Ireland (Claddagh Ring)

My husband and I (both being of Irish descent) decided to exchange claddagh rings as wedding bands. There is a beautiful poem associated with this ring that goes like this: "The hands are there for friendship, The heart is there for love. For loyalty throughout the year, The crown is raised above". Sneha Who I am...

Although I was born and brought up in America, mostly in NY, I am very much a "desi" as some would like to say. Both my parents are from Bombay, India. They came here to give their children a better life. Although they moved here and I was born here, I have stayed very true to my roots. I simply love Hindi songs and watching Bollywood Movies. If you ever get a chance or are interested, I will give you some suggestions as to which movie is great to watch. I am Gujarati, meaning my family is from… Continue

Zeboniso Teacher

The first Sunday of October we celebrate Teacher’s Day. This year we celebrate it on the 4th of October. Teacher’s profession is very difficult but much respected one. It is a bit hard to handle with many different personalities. Teachers can inspire us and change the world. Teacher’s profession teaches all other professions in the world. Teacher is a person who helps students, give knowledge and care and love. We come to school at the age of 6 or 7 and teacher takes our hand and bring us to the… Continue

Keri Willis Celebrating Irish Culture

Music has played an important role in my culture. Irish stories have always been told through music. For instance, the song The Fields of Athenry has been around forever. It has been done and re-done by bands over the years, each giving it their own touch. I remember about two years ago driving in the car and having my aunt, who is in her mid-sixties, and having her complain that the "Irish Music" that I was listening to just wasn't the same. I explained to her that no, of course it wasn… Continue

Lurlene Campbell International Teacher's Day

I'll Remember You Always Rarely does someone get to influence a person's life in a positive way for a lifetime, as a teacher can, fostering optimism and confidence, providing knowledge that leads to success, and being a good role model, as you have, and you are, and you will... forever. I'll remember you always. Thank you. By Joanna Fuchs

Lurlene Campbell Celebrating Culture

Ackee is the national fruit of Jamaica and is one of the main ingredients in the popular breakfast dish "Ackee and Saltfish." Ackee is not indigenous to Jamaica but was imported from West Africa during the 18th century, the name is derived from the West African name "Akye Fufo". Whilst the tree is grown in many countries, it is only known to be cultivated for food in Jamaica Each fruit consists of three black seeds surrounded by yellow flesh and a skin which turns red on maturity of the fruit.… Continue

Keri Willis Happy Teacher's Day

This year I have been quite stressed, but the previous quote has been something that has gotten me through so far. It's funny, as a kid I always wanted to be a teacher, but now I'm not so sure. I used to say that I wanted to be a teacher because of the feeling that I got when the lightbulb when on above their head, when the finally understand what I've been trying to teach them. I don… Continue

Tanya Steers To Teacher World Day!

Anonymous “To learn and never be filled, is wisdom; to teach and never be weary, is love.” Andy Rooney Most of us end up with no more than five or six people who remember us. Teachers have thousands of people who remember them for the rest of their lives. Haim G. Ginott Teachers are expected to reach unattainable goals with inadequate tools. The miracle is that at times they accomplish this impossible task. This may help us continue the task. Continue

Sneha Teacher's World Day!

A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. ~Henry Brooks Adams Teachers, this is just something I always keep with me when I have a bad day or even a good day. There are days when I don't know why I became a teacher and put myself through the chaos, but when that student comes to see me and says You were my best teacher and I think about you all the time, it makes everything worth it! Never lose that spark you had when you started off as a teacher and remember you… Continue

zarahusain Opinions on Inspiration and Kidspiration

To be honest, I am speechless with this invention and keep thinking how many things we can do with Inspiration family! Inspiration and Kidspirations are an amazing group of invention from Inspiration Softwares and are excellent builders of critical thinking, organizers of thoughts and feelings, platforms for videos and html texts, and guards of ideas and images. All of them can create a story in the minds of deaf children and the educators can learn a lot from the impact of Inspiration and Kids… Continue

zarahusain My Opinions on Intellitools and Kurzweill 3000

Intellitools and Kurzweill 3000 are good for the deaf children with multiple disabilities and who need to access the curriculum within multiple representations and engagement means. I am thinking of how Kurzweill can be a good example for a deaf college student with ADHD; if he is so hyper, he can sit and watch the text being highlighted one by one and he can select whatever the colors captivate him and set it as the text background. Intellitools are good for those deaf children with deficienci… Continue
