Language Arts/ Technology

This course has changed the way I think of technology and use it within my classroom. I am truely pleased with my progress with technology. I decided to buy a book to continue and even expand what I'm doing. You should really take a coures like this you learn so much and besides it was so interesting.

Wanda,
I checkec your digital story "History of Gospel". It seems to work fine with narration and all and contains very interesting information. I hope you enjoyed putting it together. Nice work.

You are going to be "aight" :) As a community of educators we can scaffold with and for each other so as to enhance learning constructs / centers for our children; in much the same way the flying buttress supported the magnificent cathedrals of Europe.

The Ning does not have an email directory that I am aware of. Visit the members page to read their profile. It gives the country where they are based. Follow their page or forum discussions and jump in with an introduction comment add as friend is different to invite. The person has to ok your add as friend. The ning does it with notification alerts

In my opinion based on my own early schooling, Social Studies was like the Grand central Station for the other core curriculum areas. I became a voracious :) reader of all available material b ecause of Social Studies. My lackluster interest in Math perked up following my intro to Lines of Longitude and latitude. Science came alive after learning of the ice ages and its effects on intercontinental land bridges, migration of the first waves of nomadic natives, land form erosion, etc. My challenge is to make it viable for my wards.

It's all good, Wanda, we are all newby at something where tech application is concerned. I have been using MS Word, PPT over the years and I am thrilled when a new short cut is learned...necessity often times fuels our discovery learning. Remember the Early grades moral reader "Rainbow Fish". I trully embrace the outcome of that wonderful story. Every September, I immerse both the Big book version and VCR copy for grades 1-2 as part of their me, family, my community learning units.
On that note let me assure you that as educators we are also a circular community of continuous learners

Thank you very much. We have Fifth grade students ( I teach in Bed Stuy). My Fifth graders are so interesting. Can we start a penpal exchange for our classes in the near future. On a more personal note I wish to encourage you to keep on organizing your work by making more of it automated (tech) so that the class and students can run with minimal micro managing from you. We are on track towards more automated class routines because we embrace what 21st century tech has to offer.
Wanda I look forward to exchanging/ sharing any thoughts experiences that can enhance our respective classroom and professional careers.
Till later, wishing you long life and prosperity.
Albert
