Profile Information

About Me - What you should know about me...
I spent three years in Asia after graduating from college - two in Taiwan and one on a Rotary Graduate Scholarship to Chiangmai, Thailand.
I love reading Tang Poetry (and even had a translation of Meng Hao Ran's 'Spring Dawn' published in a Taiwanese Quarterly!).

I now have two kids (ages 12 and 10) and have recently begun daydreaming about teaching and traveling - once again a vagabond dreamer!

I have a fondness for orchids, good java and conversation.

This is my seventh year of teaching: I was a NYC Teaching Fellow and taught second and fifth grades before working as a technology staff developer for Region 4. I have been a technology instructor and staff developer at PS 145 for the past three years.

I love dancing and am taking Salsa and Flamenco classes!

What is your favorite food?
I love Indian, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Italian is also wonderful - I won't pass up an offer of lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs, either!
What is your favorite type of music? Who is your favorite musician?
I love classical, jazz, Indian.... any world music. I am fond of Mandarin Chinese Karaoke and secretly dream of entering a competition in which I can belt out my favorite tunes.
What is your favorite place? why?
To be totally honest - my bed. I would live in it if I could. I have even taken over half of the living room as my bedroom because we only have a two bedroom apartment and my kids (a boy and a girl) each have their own room. Ok, so they can't watch TV forever or stay up late because Mommy wants to sleep. But, I literally am in the center of it all and get to lie in bed propped up on a million pillows.
What is your favorite holiday? why?
My children, whose father is Chinese-American, love Chinese New Year.
What do you teach?:
Computers grades k-5.
Where do you teach?
PS 145, Bushwick, Brooklyn
What would you advise others about teaching?
Go for it - It is the toughest job you'll ever love to hate.
