Profile Information

About Me - What you should know about me...
I am a graduate of Dowling College and Touro College and in my seventh year of teaching.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in General Education and Special Education and a Masters degree in Teaching Literacy. I am currently in my seventh year as a special education teacher at the middle school level. My career as an educator began in Ozone Park and has continued there to this day. Ozone Park is a culturally diverse city made up of predominately Guyanese and Indian cultures. There is a smaller percentage of Hispanic and African American cultures.

I am of Polish, Italian and Irish descent and was born in New York. I was raised in Nassau County and attended public schools where I was an active athlete. I played volleyball since I was in the seventh grade and continued until college.

What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is lasagna and chicken francese.
What is your favorite type of music? Who is your favorite musician?
There is no one specific type of music that I enjoy or musician. It all depends on the day that I am having.
What is your favorite place? why?
My favorite place would be anywhere where I can relax and enjoy being around my family and friends.
What is your favorite holiday? why?
Christmas is my favorite holiday because it is so close to my birthday.
What do you teach?:
I teach an 8th grade 12:1:1 special education class.
Where do you teach?
I teach in Queens, NY.
What would you advise others about teaching?
My advice to others about teaching would be to be patient and understanding. There are days when you are going to want to throw in the towel but always remember that tomorrow is another day. We must always remember where our students come from and that they need constant support and guidance. As educators we need to be role models for our students and remember that they look up to us to guide them through their lives.

Cultural Artifact - Polish Proverb

Baba z wozu, koniom lżej
*Word-for-word translation: When a woman has got off a wagon, horses have an easier time
*Meaning: It's all the better when an unhelpful person gets out of the way.
*English equivalent: Lighten your load!
