I've been working with the DOE for about 10 years as a paraprofessional. I've worked in every possible setting from Pre-k through 12, general and special education. I currently teach in a universal pre-k program @ PS 7 in Brooklyn and I must add, it's my first year on my own. Even though I have had all this classroom experience, it's still a challenge as a first year teacher with my own class.

Hi, Lurlene,
Thank you for your questioning and sharing. Actually, I am from Taiwan. So, I can explain early childhood education system in Taiwan. For children aged 0-3, daycare system is in charge. For those aged 4-6, kindergarten system comes into play. So children's education is taken chareged by two systems: education and welfare. Now there is a call for integration. There is an Act in processing of Congress. If it is passed, the educational system should be in charge. Maybe.....ten years to go!!
It's nice to talk to you. Since I used to study in American, I knew about American system. However, it was ten years ago. Where do you teach?
How's the composition of your students? Have you encountered some multicultural issues in your teaching?
Rachel
Hi, Lurlene. It's really wonderful that you would like to come to China. Beijing and Shanghai are the two best cities in China, and comparatively Beijing is more suitable for study. Hope both of our dreams can come true:-)
