I really like the way that you choose these pictures to interpret the proverb.
we also have similar proverb which called "以牙還牙 " in Chinese.
It means that "A tooth for a tooth ".
"How children are buried with supplemental classes for learning skills."
Isn't that awful sounding...that children (ages 5 to ???) are feeling stressed out because of all the expectations that are on them. Or at least this is how I am interpreting this portion of the proverb...I have been teaching a self-contained special education class at the elementary level for 6 years...and the expectations that the county and the state are putting on these students with severe disabilities is CRAZY! (There is a glimmer of sanity in their ideas...and I understand the want to expose these students to multiple academic areas, etc. - which is great for some students) But in all reality -- let's really take a look at these students, determine their needs, and figure out what is best for them to learn. I have also taken a step back to re-look at the expectations that state and county education leaders have for elementary school students. There is no time for kindergarteners to play...interact...socialize...be a child! We are taking an essential piece of social skills (which is a domain that is NOT the easiest to teach to students) away from our young children - they NEED that to function in life...especially more now than before with all the technology that they can sit in front of and hypnotize themselves with... so again I may have gone off on a tangent but it kind of correlated with a portion of the proverb above...that our children are being BURIED by expectations...
