ok here is my proverb, guess I have to get started on a concept map. :-) Made this in photoshop. Here is the proverb in case you cant make it out on the picture. Thai: bpit torng lang pra
Translation: Putting Gold leaf on the back of a Buddha image.
Meaning - Doing good deeds without seeking attention.
I saw this cartoon and thought it was funny and worth sharing. It also made me think that different cultures handle the passing of loved ones in different ways. I realize this is a very touchy subject, but it if approached correctly ti could be very helpful to students in the long run. Having the abiltity to discuss a universal persoanl occurance could be mind opening.
That's interesting. I'm familar with the concept of doing good deeds without seeking reward but I never heard about putting goldleaf on the back of Buddha. I guess the point is that it isn't seen when looking at Buddha statue.
This is proverb that my mother used to tell all children, back in the Dominican Republic, when she knew that were were playing or associating with "tiguere" bad influence people.
Proverb
Dime con quien andas, y te dire quien eres.
You can judge a man by the company he keeps.
